“King Pineapple” (5 X 8 in)
This painting was inspired during my house sitting for friends on the Big Island. The irony is that the pineapple was a major export in the past, and now the big plantations are gone. Pineapples are actually cheaper to purchase on the mainland than on the Island. I enjoyed creating the textures of the skin with its various colors. I called it “King” due to the crown. The various shades of green and the stylized design make it somewhat whimsical. Also only showing part of the fruit allows you, the observer, to complete the image.
