“MELON STILL LIFE” (18 x 24 in.)

This painting was actually a detail of a larger illustration. I chose the elements that I thought would work well. I was fascinated by the variety of colors, textures and the flow of the outline of the fruit. Once again I tried to “push” the colors to bring out the richness that was inherent in the melons, both in their skin as well as the flesh. Through a layering process I tried to manifest the moisture that a ripe cut melon exhibits. I hope I achieved a small level of success. GOT MELON?
