“Parthenon Perspective” (12×18)
While traveling in Greece I spent some time in Athens and often visited the Acropolis. This view of the Parthenon impressed me with scale of the building as well as its longevity. Thousands of years old and quickly losing its battle with pollution and neglect it still maintains its grandeur as the pinnacle of Greek architecture. The giant columns with their tapering lines, its use of space and light …it continues to be awe inspiring. It was/continues to be a work of incredible creativity.
Hopefully through the painting I was able to capture some of these qualities… along with the ancient white marble that now is decline in contrast to the intense blueness of the morning sky. It was an unforgettable moment.
