“PHRA NANG” KRABI, THAILAND (22 x 30in.)
Thailand is known for its many beautiful beaches. Not only the brilliant white sand and the crystal clear water but also the limestone formations contribute to the allure of this exotic location. (Krabi is also a rock climbers paradise…know around the world for it vertical walls. There is a school for climbing here) This view of the beach at Phra Nang always amazed me. The scale of the cliff at the end of the beach is immense, I was not able to capture it all…it dwarfs any human comparison. The texture of the wall is also mesmerizing. With a little imagination all types of images can be seen. The way the rock erodes makes it seem as if it is almost melting and dripping down. (One had to be careful and not be to close to the base…even a small stone from up above could do serious damage) But even the steepness of the cliff could not prevent tenacious vegetation from clinging to its sides.
The sun, sand and sea (as well as delicious cuisine) make this a popular destination for many Western tourists.
