“THE THREE P’S” (7.5 x 11 in.)

This still life was a spontaneous event. I wanted to do a small painting but the most colorful items I had to paint were some peppers. Often times you must make do with what you have. I arranged the items to have a little tension/dimension but with enough unity to hold together. The high horizon was also a conscious choice. The colors are mostly analogous. The plate, paintbrush and peppers are what make up the “three P’s” The light is once again from overhead causing the highlights on top and the shadows underneath. My technique is not overly controlled…I tried to be a little more loose. I chose a neutral foreground and background so as to not conflict with the subject matter.
